GIT GIT TWIN

Can access from main mountain road. You will see a sign on your left for “GIT GIT TWIN”

Parking is about 2,000 Rupiah. Tour guides are offered but it’s not necessary.

If you are based in Ubud, I recommend leaving around 8:00 am to beat traffic and have some alone time at the falls.

There is a rope swing and it is pretty rad but it costs 50,000 rupiah (roughly $3.00 USD) to swing three times - I suggest doing it, because WHY TF NOT?!

The hike down to GIT GIT TWIN isn’t too bad, you could wear flip flops or trainers if so desired.

SIDE NOTE: STOP FOR AVO’S

There is a small avocado stand about 5 kilometers prior to Git Git. Unless you are an avocado farmer I guarantee you have never seen so many avows in your life!! Get a few kilos - the avos are cheap and organic. If you’re on motor bike just store th…

I’ve been to Nung Nung a few times and to be honest I’m never disappointed.

There is something different to fall in love with every time I’ve explored this beauty.

This past time I went with one of my new friends Laura.

Laura and I spent two hours sitting on a rock downstream gazing upon the greenery surrounding the waterfall.

There is actually two waterfalls here, the main one pictured below and also a smaller one downstream that you can’t access unless your daring and climb further downriver.

You can stare at NUNG NUNG’S brilliance for hours and swim in the water, although the power of this waterfall is not something to take lightly. I usually gaze from afar and dip my toes, swimming too close to the waterfall is probably not the best idea - just sayin’

Be prepared:

The walk down is the easy part, it’s the literal climb back up that challenges your endurance.

However, you can take breaks along the way!

There are bales set up after each set of stairs so that you can rest, perhaps have a snack and let the body digest so that you can continue back up.

Perhaps the most brilliant of all the falls in Bali.

Sekumpul is deep within the mountains about 2 hours bike ride from Ubud. There is a small sign to the right off of the main mountain road - getting to the sign is the easy part that only takes about an hour or so.

The ride after the sign you must go slower, the curves get tighter and the hills become quite steep as you navigate through.

There will be heaps of signs that tell you to stop but you don’t have to. If you want to do a full excursion that includes, tour guide, meal/drink, photos at a swing and etc then I would recommend you stop at the small pull out to the left once you are about 2kil into the drive. Here there are tour options provided for you with price listings - however, it’s not necessary to stop if you aren’t interested in taking the tour package option.

Be warned: this is a workout to get to.

The benefit of doing a tour option is that you can get a ride back up to your vehicle once you’re out of the falls. Many people simply pay about 50,000 rupiah to a motorbike taxi to get back.

I didn’t take that option, I pulled over and asked if we could drive all the way down into the lower parking lot and was pointed in the right direction.

Getting down to the lower lot was an adventure in itself.

I don’t suggest doing that unless you are 100% confident and savvy on a motorbike.

By foot you will actually pass the lower parking lot (which is a small dirt pull out) to get to the waterfall.

There are a shit ton of stairs with an almost straight vertical incline which is why getting back up can be quite challenging.

BUT!!!!

Don’t let that stop you.

There is much to be explored at Sekumpul that you almost forget about the climb.

Pausing the blog for a brief moment so you can stare at this cute puppy who almost joined us for the adventure…

Let me start off by saying I fucking love this waterfall.

It’s an easy 1 hour and 15 minute ride from Ubud.

I am honestly surprised that it’s not super busy here.

It’s a place to chill for a few hours, have a swim, eat lunch and bask in the sun.

We went here for my sister Annie’s birthday last month and it was like stepping into Jurassic Park - the good stuff though not the bloody nonsense.

No dinosaurs here, but there are incredible birds that fly around near the waterfall circling above the lagoon.

It makes everything feel prehistoric in my mind.

The walking part isn’t too bad, just a few sets of stairs and mostly a dirt path that lead you down.

It costs about 10,000 rupiah ($1 USD) to get in.

The only challenge: If you’re on bike then you absolutely need to be careful and confident in your ability to navigate down a microscopic bike path that is jagged and unpredictable.

Annie and I coasted down in the non traditional sense.

The ride was full of bumps and I definitely scraped the bottom of the bike multiple times but hey, we fucking made it!

If you don’t go here you’ll have FOMO later, I promise.
