Nung Nung waterfall - Bali, Indonesia
I’ve visited Nung Nung a few times now, and honestly, it never fails to impress me. Every trip reveals something new to fall in love with, a fresh perspective on a natural masterpiece.
On my most recent visit, I went with a new friend, Laura. We spent two blissful hours sitting on a rock downstream, completely captivated by the greenery framing the falls. There’s something magical about just being still in a place like that.
Did you know there are actually two waterfalls here? The main cascade—majestic and awe-inspiring—and a smaller one further downstream, which is only accessible if you’re feeling adventurous enough to climb downriver.
Nung Nung’s power is mesmerizing. You could spend hours simply staring at its magnificence or wade into the water for a refreshing dip. That said, don’t underestimate the force of the waterfall— best admired from a safe distance. I usually stick to dipping my toes rather than swimming too close. Just a little tip—better safe than sorry!
A word of warning:
The walk down to the waterfall is a breeze, but the trek back up? That’s where the challenge begins. It’s a test of your endurance, but fortunately, there are rest stops—bales—strategically placed along the way. Take full advantage of them to catch your breath, grab a snack, or just soak in the beauty around you before continuing your climb.
Nung Nung isn’t just a waterfall; it’s an experience—one that stays with you long after you’ve left.
